The Nashville-Davidson-Murfreesboro MSA ranks 7th in the 2015 Policom Economic Strength Ranking. Policom specializes in the studying the dynamics of local economies. The economic strength rankings are created to studying the economic vitality of a region, those with high rankings have consistent, long-term economic viability. According to Policom, there are 363 MSA's within the United States and 82% of citizens reside within a metro area.

According to the Vice-President of Economic Development, "this ranking is another testimony to our sustainable and growing economy. It is important to economic stability to continue to recruit good jobs with higher wages to our community, while also providing a high quality of life".

Policom takes into a variety of data provided by the US Census and the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The data used includes: jobs created, lost, types of jobs created, wages associated with all sector of jobs, medical benefits and expenses, etc. This data and used and also the rate, consistency and stability of the jobs, wages, growth of community are part of the data extrapolated. According to the study, strength in the economy is also a correlation of the stability currently and future stability.
